I saw this lesson idea for Shaving Cream Prints years ago but hadn't presented it yet because it seemed best for a small class. Last week 3 preschoolers at my house for play day made a great opportunity.
The supplies we used were old pie pans, shaving cream, paper and paint. First we filled a pan with shaving cream, leveled it and squirted paint on top.
We used sticks to swirl the paint then placed a paper on top and pressed lightly.
At first the idea of getting messy wasn't appealing but soon the gloves came off.
We took one corner of the paper and pulled it up. Then let the papers sit a little while before scraping off the excess shaving cream.
This was a quick, fun, messy project.
I have done this with whole classes of kids, and they LOVE it! K-6, they're never too old to get into the project... We do this right on the tables in the art room, and cleaning up the shaving cream leaves the table tops spic and span!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the kids had fun! I tried this once, but got tired of the shaving cream aroma...that very masculine aroma :-)
ReplyDeleteI have since tried marbled paper with liquid starch (my grocery store has Sta-Flo starch in the laundry section) and to me, the results are way more impressive! And the clean up is easy...and there is no scent :-)
Here's an example of what the paper looks like...I used cardstock.

I would love to know if you try it, and what you thought!
