This is a sample of a one color portrait exercise I painted from a published photo (not my own reference). Since I rarely complete projects, this is posted as a personal incentive to finish more paintings.
Thanks all for your nice comments. Alex the white part is mostly just a light value or the white of the paper. I used the tip of an Exacto knife to scrape out the detailed areas in the hair and eyebrows.
