Coloring Book Portraits. This is the steps I follow to simplify photo references for that lesson.

- Use a digital photo reference or scan a photo to convert it to a digital image.
- Bring the image into a photo editing program (I used Photoshop CS3).
- If using a color image convert it to gray scale or sepia.
- Navigate to filters/artistic filter/cutout (if you are using a program other than Photoshop these steps will be different)
- Adjust the sliders to reduce the image to 3-4 different value shapes.
Thanks for sharing these great processes to use to make a portrait. WHat an effective way to emphasize the importance of value! Be back soon.
ReplyDeleteJoanne,
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind a photographer following your blog. I find the more I know about art the better photographer I can be. You certainly know your art and we (Jeanne and I) certainly enjoy it. I'll be back.

Thanks for your comments Sandy and Scott. Photographers are welcome (as well as anyone else) to follow. I think all of us whatever our emphasis can learn much from each other. It's what keeps things interesting.
