This is the same painting that was started using a color scheme from the color chart project. The photograph has washed out the color; the piece is dominantly Quinacridone Burnt Orange with a little Sap Green.

As I was painting this, it took a real effort to overlook the problems and just finish it. Now that it is done some of those things that bothered me the most while painting are not as noticeable.
The mat is too thick for the painting. It crops more than it should but it was one I had on hand and will have to do until there is another.

This second photo has nothing to do with art- just wanted to share it. Years ago we purchased a small ficus tree. This tree is now more than 9 feet tall. It's in the room with the animal paintings, perfect for a jungle theme but the way it's growing soon it could take over the room.
It's interesting that the child who sleeps in this room has experienced very little illness- colds, ear infections etc. Could the tree and the air it cleans have something to do with that?...
The painting is very beautiful and yes the tree is keeping the rooms air clean. Plants are the best air purifiers (there might be some that are not, I am not sure). Lucky you for having such a green thumb and having a tree that is happy. Great work!

ReplyDeleteAwesome painting of elephants! My father and my oldest son shared a special fondness for elephants - so I've taken quite a liking to them as well. Interesting 'peek' into your animal room. Looks like it would be fun!
